DUY VST PLUGINS SOFTWARE
One of the original TDM plug-in developers, Andy Hildebrand at Antares, offers a range of software including MDT Multiband Dynamics, Jupiter Voice Processor, Auto-Tune and Microphone Modeler. Also aimed at the more technical user, McDSP offer an excellent range of plug-ins including their Filter Bank, Compressor Bank and MC2000 multi-band compressor, along with their AC1 and AC2 Analog Channel emulators.

Similarly, Cool Stuff Labs Generator X lets you create a range of test signals for your Pro Tools system. Serato's Pitch ’n Time is similar to Speed, but has more features.įor the more technical engineer, Apogee MasterTools provides their proprietary UV22 dither algorithm and has various features that technical engineers will appreciate. UltraTools is actually three plug-ins – Pure Pitch, Pitch Doctor and Sound Blender – while Speed, as its name suggests, lets you speed your audio up (or slow it down). Wave Mechanics offer UltraTools and Speed.

Metric Halo Labs offer their Channel Strip – an ‘all-in-one’ plug-in that provides all the features you would expect in a mixing console channel in one convenient plug-in – and SpectraFoo which provides professional metering facilities for Pro Tools systems. The DUY suite of plug-ins has various creative sound modifiers, including as Shape, Wide, Valve and Tape, ReDSPider to replay preset effect types created using DSPider, and SynthSpider, which does for ‘virtual instruments’ what DSPider does for plug-ins – it lets you create them! These GRM Tools plug-ins are also available for VST, for example, although the implementations are significantly different on the different platforms.

Native Instruments Spektral Delay is a tool for the creative sound designer, as are the plug-ins that you will find in the GRM Tools bundles. If you have to choose just one high-quality third-party EQ for your Pro Tools system, then this should probably be the one. My current favourite is the Sony Oxford EQ plug-in with the George Massenburg option – giving you two of the best equalizer designs around in one convenient package. Many of these are also available as VST and/or MAS plug-ins. Various third-party companies also produce TDM plug-ins, most of which are listed in the Digidesign Third-party Developers Catalogue.
